[ That isn't the answer Hux wants. He's expecting Ren to stumble and get flustered somehow at the thought of being caught out, not act calm and cool as if it wasn't a big deal.
Hux glances over at the people around them before turning his gaze back on Ren, managing to keep it cool despite being put on the spot. He needs to be more prepared for this now he's thrown it out there. Ren, for his sins, gets a raise of the eyebrow as Hux properly holds the twenty back out. This time he won't snatch it away.]
I'm certain they'll have nothing but good things to say if the muffin I had yesterday is a standard to go by. [ But he will still be looking into the prices sometime. For now he just wants Ren off guard as much as possible, and only because he can.]
[ Hux silently gives Ren that small victory by calling his bluff and he stays silent as Ren counts his change out before snagging the muffin in one hand. He shouldn't have come back, he should have gone to Starbucks or something. Whatever this annoyance was, it certainly wasn't normal and Hux narrows his eyes at Ren again. It's his fault at the very least. If he'd apologized for a mispelling this wouldn't be happening.]
I'm sure it will. [ He'll look Ren up and down again before continuing, his own expression giving nothing away.] You're not going to be planning on getting the vacuum out again are you? I should find out now so I know where not to sit.
[ It looks like they're dangerously close to reaching an accord, even if it's more in the lines of mutually assured destruction.
Hux's stare is beginning to unnerve him a little. It makes him feel like something four-legged and furry just before it's snatched up by something much larger and more predatory.
He lifts his shoulder slightly, unapologetic. ]
Can't see it being an issue for at least another month.
[ That's kind of disgusting and Hux can't help but glance down at the flooring as if expecting to see half an inch of dirt and dust. A month.]
This place should be cleaned more than that....Actually you know what, I don't care. [ Hux huffs quietly under his breath, feeling irate for no reason as he moves to one side to wait for his coffee.]
[ Chewing on the inside of his cheek to keep from smiling, Ren was quick enough to wave Hux off to the side as he attended to the next in a rapidly growing line of customers.
Finn, who was still learning the ropes - yet seemed to have a sixth sense for this sort of thing - throwing together the coffee.
Shockingly (or perhaps not, given Hux's rapidly dwindling opinion of the place) the name on the cup is again misspelled. This time scrawled out in large, blocky letters: Hucks. ]
[ The feud could have ended there, the pair of them slowly calming down enough to go separate ways without a point to prove. Yes, the idea of not vacuuming for a month was gross, but not enough for Hux to go out of his way on that.
Nope, he'll get his coffee and muffin, go to work and that would be the end of it. He also would be so inclined to come back the day after just to prove a point.
That is, of course, until he takes his coffee and sees the name on it. For the love of - ]
Just how difficult do you find it to spell out three letters??
[ Maybe he was a little amused - just a little. After all, what were the odds? ]
You know what [ having turned the cup around in his hands, ascertaining that the name was indeed misspelled and that this wasn't some sort of elaborate con - again, what were the odds? - Ren set it back down on the counter, leaning forward, palms flat. ] that's not a bad idea.
And while you're at it you should put your number on there so when the manager gets in he can call and apologize. For the inconvenience that's been caused.
[ The odds were pretty out there, which is why Hux is convinced it's on purpose. Perhaps the first time he could have let it go but twice is just someone being a shitheel.
An apology from the manager though..... Hux normally can't be bothered by such things, finds apologies to be trite in the best of circumstances but he also can't deny feeling curious as to what the manager would even say.]
Fine. Though I'm taking that coffee. I did pay for it. [ Hux pulls out a business card for a nearby law firm, flipping it over to scrawl his number on the back of it before sliding it across to counter at Ren.]
[ It's not entirely incorrect. Certainly Ren had mentioned the previous day's encounter while they'd been opening up the shop - Finn had been amused but then Finn was easily amused, though even he had paused long enough to lift his eyebrows at the mention of the vacuuming.
"You know we do that every day, right? And twice on weekends."
So, yeah. Perhaps this had gotten a bit out of hand. Perhaps he should make that effort.
Either way he's tacking the card (lawyer, huh? Go figure!), tucking it into his top pocket with a smile that was more sincerity than not. ]
Yeah, sure. [ He passes the cup back over, and if their fingers graze then that's fine. Normal. Totally to be expected.
He nods toward the table Hux had occupied the previous day. ]
[ It seems suspicious that the whole thing is going so smoothly right now, enough that when Hux takes the coffee back he doesn't (overly) think much of the contact again. Is it suspicious, or does he just expect it to be?
Whatever it is, Hux knows that right now he doesn't have a leg to stand on. There's nothing sinister going on here no matter how much he wants there to be and his over analytical nature is already starting to take it's toll.]
Who — [ Hux pauses as Ren points out his table if free, distracted from asking who the manager is as he gives a nod instead. That smile is definitely setting him on edge.] Fine. I can be reached after seven pm.

Ren waves a hand around them, fingers spread, indicating the small cluster of people huddled around their particular tables. ] You do that.
In the meantime I'll be over here, serving the actual customers. [ -- and, of course, holding onto both the muffin and the coffee. ]

Not this time, at least.
He takes the twenty, tucking it into the register and then counting out the change. ]
Then I hope the Banana meets your standards. [ The change and muffin are slid over. ]
Coffee shouldn't be longer than five minutes.

Peering over at the cup, Ren makes a soft noise that could almost be construed as amused. ]
I'm sorry. Let me just -- [ He reaches for the cup. ] -- take care of that for you.

Did he really find it that funny? Hux hopes that noise wasn't amusement because he, personally, doesn't find anything funny about the whole thing.]
Maybe I should bring my own pen so I can correct it for you myself.
